Mr T Rice
I chose to be head of year because I enjoy dealing with the pastoral demands of our pupils on a daily basis, outside of the classroom as well as in. To be a successful head of year, you need to have a holistic understanding of every individual student. Working collaboratively with parents, teachers and individual students is essential in facilitating progress for all our learners, not just academically but also for their overall well-being.
Favourite Part of the Job
My favourite part of the job has to be when I am inspired by our students. Teaching should not just be about inspiring our young people, but should also be about being inspired ourselves. Giving our young people the opportunity to 'grow' is central in my teaching pedagogy- and is the reason why I love being a head of year!
